Rowenta PowerPress Steam Iron Review

Over the years, I have owned way less expensive irons which were dropped, knocked over and generally abused.Those irons gave me years of service.Now that I'm married with 2 kids, I thought I would upgrade my choice of iron to the much lauded Rowenta.Big Mistake!The iron peformed well enough for the first couple of years, but suddenly today out of the blue, it quit working on me!This overly expensive iron has been treated with the utmost care.I am the only one who uses it and it has never been dropped or otherwise traumatized."Ironically", my cheap iron from back in the day was the one I should have stuck with.The other disappointing twist to this is that the iron only has a 1 year warranty (gee, wonder why).I called Customer Service at Rowenta to see if they would stand by their product.The very polite CS rep told me I could ship the iron back for about $30-60 (my expense, of course) and they would "see" if they could fix it! Sometimes you get what you pay for, but sometimes you get taken for a ride.DON'T BUY ROWENTA IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR IRON TO WORK FOR MORE THAN A YEAR!
